![]() ![]() So, in terms of organization, both the Surge and the Recon have a lot to offer and will not let you down. There is also a larger zippered pocket and several smaller ones, as well as a couple of penholders. A pocket made of elastic webbing is something you will also find in both of these North Face backpacks, and it’s perfectly convenient for storing all your cables and chargers. Just like the Borealis, they both have a padded tablet sleeve, in addition to a dedicated smartphone pocket.Īnd there is more. Multi-Functional Front Compartmentīoth of the backpacks have a lot of useful pockets and features in the front compartment. So, let’s check out what those features are, and then we will move on to the things that are unique to each backpack. ![]() Since there are a lot of design features that these two backpacks share, it is only fair to talk about them first. SEE LATEST PRICES Shared Features of The Surge And Recon Backpacks After all, it just means that you can put more of your things in this backpack, and that has to be a plus. There are so many different compartments and pockets on the Surge, and what on Earth are you going to want to keep in this tight pocket? And keep in mind that whatever you do put there is going to push into the front compartment of the backpack.īut, I’m sure plenty of you could find a way to utilize it, so I’m calling it an advantage. However, I’m not really crazy about this feature, because I think it is kind of redundant. And it is large enough for storing a lighter jacket or a hoodie. So there are two large vertical zippers on the front panel, but they both open up the same pocket. ![]() Just unzip this compartment, lay it flat, and pick it up when you’re done. This helps with TSA inspections and means that you don’t have to unpack your entire backpack when going through a checkpoint. The laptop sleeve of the Surge is located in a compartment at its very back, which can be opened flat. The TSA-friendly design of the opening of the backpack would make your life much easier – if you often have to go through TSA checkpoints. This is the main reason why I think the Surge would make a great traveling companion. SEE LATEST PRICES Advantages Of The Surge Backpack TSA Friendly Compartment And Opening If that is the part that interests you the most, feel free to jump to it with the quick navigation above. In the first part that was the Borealis and here it is the Surge. After that, we will examine their differences, or rather the advantages one of them has over the other. Just like in part 1 of this humongous review, we will first check out the common features that these two backpacks share. Arguably that is because it has the most features out of all the backpacks, so let’s dive straight into those details. You should also keep in mind that Surge is the heavier of the two and the heaviest of all four backpacks. And it has more compartments than the Recon, but more on that later. But capacity-wise, it is the backpack with the bigger capacity, which means that you can actually pack more stuff into it. So as you can see from these measurements, Surge is actually the smaller backpack – size-wise. You can refer to the comparison table above. But let’s start slow and see what the basic dimensions and capacities of these two North Face backpacks are. Therefore, the Surge with its TSA-friendly opening is also a great option for a carry-on travel backpack. We already know that they are larger than North Faces Borealis and the Jester, which means that they could also be used for different purposes.Įven though all four backpacks are actually daypacks, it is always beneficial that they are also multi-functional. Before we get into any detail, we will first check out some basic information about these two backpacks. ![]() ![]() I checked again and indeed all electronic shutter actuations add to the total number. It seems the naming was changed in Exiftool version 11.25 and I was using an older one up until now. Subsequently I installed latest version of Exiftool (11.71) and the names of the 3 parameters I referred above are now "Shutter Count", "Shutter Count 2" and "Shutter Count 3". "Image Count 2" shows some values which I can't really understand, as that value is 7 digits in my case and vastly different between subsequent shots. There is also "Image Count 2" and "Image Count 3" in EXIF data, I see the same values in "Image Count 3" as in "Image Count 1", and it appears to be the count of exposures taken with mechanical shutter. I checked with exiftool directly from a few different shots. I did some shooting today (I have latest firmware 6.0) with electronic shutter as usual and the "Image Count" parameter in different shots stayed unchanged. My A9 doesn't include shots taken with electronic shutter in "Image Count" in EXIF. (remains to be seen if the A7iii acts differently, but I'd be surprised.) I did a quick check on my A7Riii and the 'shutter count' definitely DOES NOT count silent shutter actuations. Nikon records the total number of photos as Camera Actuations. I use RawDigger to access the shutter count. Just drop a file onto the EXIF Viewer icon, and it tells everything it can. I don't have an A7iii, but will check it on my A7Riii. It's always been the case that silent shutter does not add to the shutter count only EFCS and standard shutter do. My total count is in excess of 17K, but this is mainly shooting sports with electronic shutter, so the mechanical one is much less which makes my offer that much more attractive to the potential buyer. Hence my question, is there any tool out there to differentiate between the mechanical and electronic shutter? I did an experiment and shot electronic shutter exclusively for 2 days and to my surprise all those shots added to the cumulative shutter count. There are number of online tool available to fetch this number of the recent JPEG or RAW file, but they provide the total shot count of both mechanical and electronic shutter. UPDATE: This method seems to work for Nikons, but not Canons from the feedback I've received here and on another site that I'm on.I am attempting to sell my A7iii and get a lot of questions about the actual shutter count of my camera. For Nikon cameras and Pentax cameras, the shutter count is stored within the EXIF data of each raw photo. Finding the shutter count on Nikon & Pentax cameras. These cameras come with a much higher life expectancy, often at a shutter count of around 100,000. I read on a couple of sites that the "mean time before failure" (MTBF) for many cameras' shutter is ~150,000 to ~200,000 actuations. Mirrorless cameras are slightly different, though. You will need to click on Open to view an image that you want to use for the count. Scroll down to to where you see "Image number." NOTE: That number indicates how many shutter actuations you have made on your camera as of THAT photo.Click on the "i" button in the Inspector window.Note that if you upload an image that has been processed by Photoshop, etc., it might not be usable as some of its EXIF data could have been stripped. Use this tool to check your cameras shutter count and find out when the camera was manufactured. I dont see any used A7Rs listed on Adorama with shutter counts. Check Your Cameras Shutter Count & Manufacture Date. With that photo as your active photo, click on the "Tools" menu. Its possible that technicians have access to tools that allow them to retrieve the shutter count directly from the camera, even though its not stored in the Exif, as is the case for the A7R.Drop/open the LAST photo you took with your camera in the Preview app.In this example, it’s shot 142 (it’s obviously a very new camera in this case). Down toward the bottom, you’ll see the Shutter Count item. From the next screen, click on the Nikon tab. NOTE: This procedure assumes that the LAST photo that you took with your camera is currently on your Mac somewhere. In the popup, click on the i tab (the icon that is a small dark circle with an i). If you have a mirrorless camera, please try it and let us know if this works for you, too. I'm assuming this may work for any DSLR camera. EXIF data for Sony a7 II: Train, mode of transport, rolling. However, what it lacks in portability, it makes up for in other areas. So, right off the bat I would say, the Spectra is not as travel-friendly as Medela Pump and Go. That’s right, the Spectra S2 Plus plugs into the wall for power, unlike the Medela Freestyle Breast Pump, which charges like a cell phone and holds battery power. It’s a heavy-ish pink and white orb with a handle, and a plug. SPECTRA S2Ĭan I first say, how stinkin’ precious is this milk pump? Clicking the “Fix Now!” button successfully deleted the files after a restart. Using rootkit detection technology based on GMER, avast! ANTIROOTKIT only managed to detect All In One Keylogger while missing the other two driver-based rootkit keyloggers. This free and portable anti rootkit tool by avast! is outdated and no longer being maintained since 2008 because it has been integrated into their antivirus program but can still be downloaded directly from their server. Since antivirus software are far from being perfect in catching rootkits, we’ve put 15 dedicated anti-rootkit tools to the test and see if they are able to detect the 3 different keyloggers (All In One Keylogger, Invisible KeyLogger Stealth, Elite Keylogger) that uses rootkit technology which we have installed on our test system. Antivirus software was not much of a help either because the Stuxnet worm successfully stayed infected on the computers for years before it was discovered by VirusBlokAda, the developer of VBA32 antivirus software. This is achieved through installing and loading kernel-mode drivers which can allow the malware to run with higher privileges.Īlthough 64-bit Windows operating systems are generally safe from rootkit infection because by default the operating system only accepts signed driver files, there were previous cases where legitimate digital certificates were stolen by hackers and used to sign rootkit drivers to bypass security software and Windows defenses. Rootkit technology is able to hide its presence from the most basic tools built into Windows such as Task Manager, to your most trusted firewall or antivirus software and you won’t even know that it’s there. This method allows you to completely remove third-party anti-virus applications from your computer, but requires you to install the uninstaller tool beforehand. There are many different types of computer malware and the ones that use rootkit technologies are the worst because they are hardest to detect and remove. An uninstaller is an application designed specifically to remove other applications. We recommend using this method, as it is the safest and allows you to completely remove third-party anti-virus applications from your computer.
